What MacSway screen sharing does

MacSway is an iPhone app that lets you watch and control your Mac screen live from your iPhone. The Mac's main display appears full screen on your phone.

  • Click and drag: a tap clicks, two quick taps double-click, a two-finger tap right-clicks, and a long press starts a drag.
  • Zoom: pinch to zoom up to five times, and move the view with two fingers.
  • Typing, photos and files: type into the active Mac field with the iPhone keyboard, paste a photo, and send a file to the Downloads folder.

When it helps

If you can see the Mac screen, the free trackpad is enough. If you cannot, or you need to hit an exact button, screen sharing helps.

  • From another room: check what is on the Mac and click while you look.
  • During a long task: look in on a build, a render or an AI coding agent and approve its request.
  • At a dialog: read the message and tap the right button.

What you need

How private it is

How can I see my Mac screen on my iPhone?

With MacSway Pro screen sharing, the Mac's main display appears live on your iPhone. Install the MacSway Mac app on the Mac and the iPhone app on your phone, pair them with the six-digit code the Mac shows, then tap "Control Mac" on the Screen tab.

Can I control my Mac from my iPhone, or only watch?

With MacSway screen sharing you can control the Mac. A tap clicks, two quick taps double-click, a two-finger tap right-clicks, a long press drags, and you can type with the iPhone keyboard.

Does my Mac screen pass through a server?

No, MacSway sends the Mac screen directly between the Mac and the iPhone, encrypted with TLS 1.3. There is no MacSway server and no MacSway account.

What system and permissions does MacSway screen sharing need?

MacSway screen sharing needs an iPhone with iOS 17 or later and a Mac with macOS 14 or later. On the Mac you allow Screen Recording and Accessibility, and the system also asks for Local Network access when connecting.

What are the limits of MacSway screen sharing?

MacSway does not promise a specific delay or frame rate, because it depends on your Wi-Fi and your Mac. It shows only the Mac's main display, and a Mac that is asleep or has its lid closed cannot be reached. Rest mode is the reliable option: it turns the display off while the Mac stays reachable.
