What you can do on your Mac from your iPhone

MacSway is an iPhone app that turns your iPhone into a remote for your Mac. Part of it is free, and the rest is part of MacSway Pro.

Cursor and typing: control the Mac with the trackpad and keyboard, for free.
Volume: adjust it with a slider and mute it, for free.
Screen: with Pro you see and control the Mac screen live.

At home and away

MacSway reaches the Mac in two ways.

At home: on the same Wi-Fi, MacSway finds the Mac by itself.
Away: with Pro and Tailscale you can reach it from another network.

What you need

The iPhone app (iOS 17 or later) and the Mac app (macOS 14 or later). On the Mac you allow Accessibility and Local Network. It works with any Mac running macOS 14 or later: MacBook Air and Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro, with Apple silicon or Intel.

How private it is

The connection is direct and encrypted, with a pinned certificate. You can revoke access per device on the Mac.

Limits

It works only between an iPhone and a Mac. A Mac that is asleep or has its lid closed cannot be reached.

AWAY FROM HOME

Reach your Mac
when you are away.

At home MacSway works over your Wi-Fi. Away from home, set up Tailscale on both devices and MacSway reaches your Mac across networks. Leave the Mac on and plugged in, with the companion app running. No MacSway account required.

DownloadBoth devices need Tailscale and internet. The Mac must stay on and reachable: plugged in, with a long auto-lock or in Rest mode.

Do I need an account for MacSway?

No, MacSway uses no account and no cloud service. Pairing uses a six-digit code, and purchases go through the App Store.

Is the MacSway connection secure?

Yes, MacSway connects your iPhone and Mac directly, encrypted with TLS 1.3, with a pinned certificate and a six-digit pairing code. You can revoke access per device on the Mac.

Which Macs does MacSway work with?
